Ethacrynate (Edecrin®), UniversityHealth.org:"Bumetanide, Bumex®, Demadex®, Edecrin®, Ethacrynic Acid, Furosemide, Lasix®, Torsemide. Loop diuretics constitute a family of drugs that remove water from the body. They are referred to as potassium-depleting, as they cause the body to lose potassium as well as water. Potassium-depleting diuretics also cause the body to lose magnesium. Loop diuretics are more potent than thiazide diuretics. They are used to lower blood pressure in people with hypertension and to reduce the amount of work the heart has to do, allowing it to pump better in people with congestive heart failure. Loop diuretics are also used to reduce water accumulation caused by other diseases."

Ethacrynate (Edecrin®), destinationrx.com:"Edecrin is a strong "water pill" (diuretic). Using too much of Edecrin can lead to serious water and mineral loss. Therefore, it is important you be monitored by your doctor. Promptly notify your doctor if you become very thirsty, have a dry mouth, become confused, or develop muscle cramps/weakness. Ethacrynic acid is a "water pill" (diuretic) that is used to decrease the amount of water in the body by increasing urination. It is used to decrease body fluid and swelling of the hands or feet (edema), and for high blood pressure. Take as directed with food or milk if Edecrin causes stomach upset. If Edecrin is used in the late afternoon or evening, you may need to urinate during the night. Consult your doctor regarding your dosing schedule. Edecrin may cause dizziness and lightheadedness especially during the first few days as your body adjusts to it. Rise slowly from a seated or lying position. Blurred vision, loss of appetite, itching, stomach upset, headache and weakness may also occur during initial therapy as your body adjusts to the medication. Inform your doctor if you develop:muscle cramps/pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hearing difficulties. Edecrin increases urination. Expect this effect. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist. PRECAUTIONS:Before using Edecrin, tell your doctor your medical history especially of:kidney problems, unusual decrease in urine output, liver disease, any drug allergies. Edecrin can reduce the potassium levels in your blood. A potassium supplement may be prescribed by your doctor. Before using Edecrin, tell your doctor if you are pregnant. It is not known if Edecrin is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding."

Ethacrynate (Edecrin®), Merck.com:"EDECRIN* (Ethacrynic Acid) is a potent diuretic which, if given in excessive amounts, may lead to profound diuresis with water and electrolyte depletion. Therefore, careful medical supervision is required, and dose and dose schedule must be adjusted to the individual patient’s needs. Ethacrynic acid is an unsaturated ketone derivative of an aryloxyacetic acid. It is designated chemically as ichloro-4-(2-methylene-1-oxobutyl)phenoxy] acetic acid, and has a molecular weight of 303.14. Ethacrynic acid is a white, or practically white, crystalline powder, very slightly soluble in water, but soluble in most organic solvents such as alcohols, chloroform, and benzene."

Ethacrynate (Edecrin®), Drugs.com:"Loop diuretics are given to help reduce the amount of water in the body. They work by acting on the kidneys to increase the flow of urine. Furosemide is also used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) in those patients who are not helped by other medicines or in those patients who have kidney problems. High blood pressure adds to the work load of the heart and arteries. If it continues for a long time, the heart and arteries may not function properly. This can damage the blood vessels of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. High blood pressure may also increase the risk of heart attacks. These problems may be less likely to occur if blood pressure is controlled. Loop diuretics may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. This medicine is available only with your doctor's prescription, in the following dosage forms: Oral Bumetanide Tablets (U.S.) Ethacrynic Acid Oral solution (U.S. and Canada) Tablets (U.S. and Canada) Furosemide Oral solution (U.S. and Canada) Tablets (U.S. and Canada) Parenteral Bumetanide Injection (U.S.) Ethacrynic Acid Injection (U.S. and Canada) Furosemide Injection (U.S. and Canada)."

Ethacrynate (Edecrin®), rxlist.com:"Ethacrynic acid is an unsaturated ketone derivative of an aryloxyacetic acid. It is designated chemically as [2,3-dichloro-4-(2- methylene-1-oxobutyl) phenoxyl acetic acid, and has a molecular weight of 303.14. Ethacrynic acid is a white, or practically white, crystalline powder, very slightly soluble in water, but soluble in most organic solvents such as alcohols, chloroform, and benzene. Its empirical formula is C13H12C12O4 . Ethacrynate sodium, the sodium salt of ethacrynic acid, is soluble in water at 25° C to the extent of about 7 percent. Solutions of the sodium salt are relatively stable at about pH 7 at room temperature for short periods, but as the pH or temperature increases the solutions are less stable. The molecular weight of ethacrynate sodium is 325.12. Its empirical formula is C13H11C12NaO4 . EDECRIN is supplied as 25 mg and 50 mg tablets for oral use. Each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose, magnesium stearate, starch and talc. The 50 mg tablet also contains D& C Yellow 10, FD& C Blue 1 and FD& C Yellow 6. Intravenous SODIUM EDECRIN* (Ethacrynate Sodium) is a sterile freeze-dried powder and is supplied in a vial containing: Ethacrynate sodium equivalent to ethacrynic acid 50.0 mg. Inactive ingredients: Mannitol 62.5 mg."

Nurses' Station:"The idea for the Nurses' Station Catalog was conceived in 1989. After searching the marketplace in response to customer inquiries, it became obvious that there were no catalogs of this type serving the nursing profession. To be sure, there were several catalogs offering nurse's uniforms and a smattering of professional items. But there weren't any catalogs at the time offering a range of gifts, clothing, professional items, name badges, shoes and scrubs for nurses. It took two years of hard work to gather samples and put a together a catalog of the most unique and high-quality items for nurses."
